Call for Pavilions.
Since 2o13, TheWrong Biennale has connected thousands of artists, curators, museums, galleries, universities and cultural organisations through a global platform for digital and contemporary art.
Its eighth edition, TW8, marks a new chapter: fewer Pavilions, stronger projects and greater visibility and support for those selected.
We invite artists, curators, collectives and organisations worldwide to propose Pavilions for:
TheWrong Biennale TW8.
1 November 2o27 to 31 March 2o28
Applications.
18 September 2o26 to 15 January 2o27
What is a Pavilion?
A Pavilion is an independently conceived exhibition presented as part of TW8.
It may feature one or multiple artists and be initiated by an artist, curator, collective, museum, gallery, university, festival or cultural organisation.
Pavilions may be online, physical or hybrid, retaining their own curatorial identity while becoming part of the wider TW8 programme.
Selection.
Only a limited number of Pavilions will be selected, based on:
1. Originality.
2. Artistic excellence.
3. Curatorial vision.
Priority may be given to alumni who have successfully participated in previous editions.
How to Apply.
Proposals should include:
- Project description, maximum 500 words.
- Curator or organising entity bio.
- Proposed artist(s), if confirmed.
- Portfolio or relevant links.
- Proposed format: online, physical or hybrid.
The Call for Pavilions runs alongside the TW8 Kickstarter campaign, through which our international community can help make the eighth edition possible.
New! TW8 Kickstarter.
For the first time, TheWrong is inviting its community to crowdfund the production and the new programs of TW8 through Kickstarter.
Crowdfunding will support ongoing platform development, technical infrastructure, team wages, new international communications plan, selected pavilions personalised promotion, full programme coordination and to fund the new TW8 Awards programme, available exclusively to selected Pavilions and their artists.
Anyone can join TW8 through eight different reward tiers, to be announced on 18 September 2o26. Three of these tiers are specifically connected to the Call for Pavilions.
Fast Track. €250
(Launching 18 September 2o26)TW8 Fast Track reward includes a TW8 kit valued at €250, shipped to your door, and a Fast Track upgrade, that allows you to submit your Pavilion proposal.
Backing TW8 does not guarantee selection and has no influence on the curatorial process. All proposals are evaluated according to the same selection criteria.
Backer. €2750
(Launching 18 September 2o26)Following selection, successful curators will be invited to become TW8 Backer, helping fund the shared infrastructure, a new global promotion plan and the new TW8 Awards programme.
The €2750 Backer reward is available exclusively to selected proposals and includes backer advantages and TW8 kits for pavilion participating artists (10 max).
Backer Waiver.
(Launching 18 September 2o26)In recognition of longstanding contributions to TheWrong, Pavilions led by curators and/or artists who have successfully participated in at least three previous editions are exempt from Backer pledge.
Pavilions led by applicants based in countries and territories included in the OECD DAC List of ODA Recipients may also request for a waiver or reduction.
New! TW8 Awards.
TheWrong Biennale introduces the TW8 Awards, a new programme created to reward, recognise and amplify outstanding work across the eighth edition.
All artists, curators and Pavilions selected for TW8 will be automatically eligible.
Selected by TW8 jury, voted by our international community. Awarded to those pushing digital and contemporary art forward.
